I’m studying Mathematics, Biology and Chemistry so I can become a doctor and work at a local hospital. My parents struggled to send me to school, but they tried their best and supported me through my primary education. Since CAMFED came into my life, things have really changed for the better!
CAMFED helped me get this far, and one day, I hope to stand beside them—reaching out to the next generation of girls searching for hope.

CAMFED (the Campaign for Female Education) supports some of the most excluded girls in rural Africa to go to school, succeed, lead, and grow up to turn the tide of poverty for their families and communities. Our programs are spearheaded by the young women leaders in the CAMFED Association (CAMA), who partner with their communities to help secure every child's right to quality education.
Growing up experiencing hardship made Mapalo shy, but with the support of CAMFED in school, she’s built her confidence and found her voice: “I have the confidence to say, no matter how hard it may be for me today — one day I’ll achieve my dreams and reach my goals. My dream for the future is to become a medical doctor because I would love to help people in need.”
Hear from some of our experts in climate-smart agriculture in rural Zimbabwe - members of the CAMFED Association of women leaders educated with CAMFED support. They are growing sustainable businesses and supporting community members with vital skills to improve their yields, nutrition and climate resilience, while protecting the planet. CAMFED Association members galvanize their communities into action, making sure girls secure their right to learn and lead. They are tackling everything from child marriage, and girls’ exclusion from education, to youth unemployment and climate change.

Our movement is now poised to support 5 million more girls in sub-Saharan Africa on the journey to independence and leadership through the power of Sisterhood. We’re partnering with schools, communities, and governments to break down the barriers that hold girls back, helping them thrive and become leaders in a flywheel of change.
Esnart, a CAMFED supported student in Malawi, scored 6 points (the highest grade) in her school leaving exams. She was one of only three students nationally and the only girl to be awarded such a high grade. At her graduation ceremony in front of the whole school, she was congratulated on her achievement, and was also welcomed officially into the CAMFED Association.
Women’s economic inclusion means she can secure her own future, the future of her family, and her community. CAMFED is supporting young women to start sustainable enterprises, creating jobs, and improving the health and wealth of entire nations.
